As of sometime in Summer 2008, AXCS will be no longer offering paid advertising on the website. The growth of several very good commercial XC ski news and information websites has been so strong over the past half decade that our association feels it is better to partner with those other sites than try and compete with them. Our primary mission continues to be focused on our members and our national/international masters events so it is the opinion of our Board and membership that it'll be better to focus on-line energy on ways to improve membership services. We'll still offer an amazing amount of exclusive content in coming years, we'll simply be "locking" more of it off for the exclusive benefit of AXCS members.
The bottom line will be a future website that is a bit simpler to the average visitor and thus we feel one that is less ideally suited to advertisers as we have been for the past 13 years.
It is entirely possible you will continue to see banners displayed on xcskiworld.com later in 08/09 and coming years. Our hope is to maintain some banner display capacity for organizational sponsors, major masters events, and partner entities. Limited xcskiworld.com ad exposure is likely to be one of the benefits offered these folks.
At some point this summer we will have a schedule available for the industry as to how to still be involved with AXCS and receive media benefits. We'll be sure you get these materials when they have been fully developed.
