This page describes how to sign up and pay via AXCS for your April 2018 Iceland Trip
Please note terms on all payments at the bottom of this page.
HOW TO OFFICIALLY SIGN UP FOR THE TRIP
STEP #1: GET ON THE AXCS RESERVATION LIST
Email << jd at xcskiworld dot com >> or call << 541-317-0217 >> AXCS National Director J.D. Downing to get your name on the first-come, first-served reservation list. When you contact AXCS, please take a look at the lodging options (hotels or shared apartments) in case you have a preference.
STEP #2: PAY YOUR TRAVEL PACKAGE DEPOSIT
To hold any lodging reservation within the AXCS reserved rooms, AXCS requires a $600 per person deposit paid via AXCS within 10 days of your name going on the "officially going" list. Options for how to pay are listed below.
Terms On Deposits: Immediately after payment is made to AXCS, the association will keep a minimum $50 per person for any cancellation at any time and for any reason. Additionally a non-refundable 25% of the total package amount will be paid to the tour operator starting by mid-August to lock in all USA reservations. In part because of these relatively early fixed non-refundable amounts, all trip participants are strongly urged to obtain trip insurance within one week of paying your deposit. AXCS has had good experiences in the past working with Travel Guard for trip insurance.
Trip Deposit can be paid by the following methods:
One option is to pay via a check/money order sent to AXCS. Just write a check payable to AXCS and mail check to:
P.O. Box 604
Bend, OR 97709
The other option is to pay via on-line with PayPal credit/debit card payment — this amount is a little bit higher (+2.5%) to cover card processing fees.
STEP #3: LOOK INTO INTERNATIONAL AIR TICKETS & DEFINE YOUR ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE PLANS Because this particular trip is so flexible, it is wise to get started on your personal arrival and departure plans well before we are looking at Final Balance payments due sometime in February.
In some cases, you may decide to shift 1-2 nights in the package from Isafjordur to Reykjavík which would mean less billing via AXCS and the tour operator and more control on your end. You also may decide to bundle several tours such that AXCS can get you a package price if the tours are paid for with the AXCS basic travel package final balance.
Flights in/out of Reykjavík are unlikely to fill because of this event, but it always pays to track typical prices over time to make sure you take advantage of fare sales from the major airlines when they crop up.
