Below please find supplemental instructions regarding MWC2018 Registration.
Depending on your situation, you'll need to find the instructions that fit your needs. USA skiers that have any questions, please feel free to email AXCS National Director J.D. Downing << axis at xcskiworld dot com >>. Canadian skiers should contact Canadian National Director Bruce LeGrow << firstname.lastname@example.org >>. English-speaking skiers from other nations please contact your respective National Director found on this page: http://www.world-masters-xc-skiing.com/en/national-directors.html
Important: PLEASE read through these instructions before you start clicking on links to do various entry steps (or at least have this page open in another window on your computer screen). These instructions really will help you complete the entry process. You can avoid a lot of frustration and save everyone time just by using the info provided below!
Also -- All skiers must be a current member of your national masters XC ski association to register for the MWC2018. For USA skiers, you need to join American XC Skiers. Other nations consult with your National Director as to membership requirements.
Before You Begin -- Please know you have two options for how to register...
Option #1.) On-line Registration Via Datasport
The helper instructions are noted below. Generally this is a fairly basic on-line process with a few quirks we've noted. The Swiss-based Datasport credit card system is very secure.
Option #2.) "Old School" MWC2018 Registration Process
The helper instructions are noted below. This method involves filling out a paper entry form -- taking a scan/smart phone of all pages & sending to your National Director (or use postal mail) -- then paying your entry fee via the PayPal button provided on the MWC2018.com registration page. So more steps with this option. But if you can't manage Datasport on-line for any reason or do not want to use that system, this is your work around option.
Instructions for MWC2018 On-line Registration Via Datasport
Step #1.) Set Up Datasport Account or Log-In To Datasport
Go to the MWC2018 Datasport Entry Pages.
If you raced the MWC2017 in Klosters, SUI last year or the Engadin Ski Marathon in any year -- you have already probably created a Datasport account and (hopefully) saved the email/password. You can also use help on Datasport to find a forgotten password.
If you are first-time Datasport user, you'll first need to create a normal on-line account with your basic personal information and a simple password (write it down somewhere).
The first page you will come to with the link above has a choice to set up a new account -- which you need to select. Setting up the account is an easy/fast process and you also can put two or more people on the same account at the same time which is really convenient for couples that both register for the MWC2018.
Stuff To Note On Personal Info Page:
-- You need to put your state/province next to your Town/City because there is not a separate field ("City" Example: Minneapolis, Minnesota)
-- The system can be very picky about your phone number. If you have problems, do NOT put any dashes between numbers in your phone number. Just leave spaces or squish all numbers together.
-- You do NOT need to actually list your mobile phone number. You can simply list a home or work number if you prefer.
-- The interface will also be fussy if you don't complete every required field (marked with *). So if the page doesn't save and push you on to the Registration Page -- you missed something in a required field. Go back and put something in.
-- Under the "Desired Currency" field, make certain to select EUR -- this will save you money on the registration currency conversion. All MWC entry fees must be paid in 200 EURO currency. Your credit card company will automatically convert that 200 EURO into your national currency (US dollars, Canadian Dollars, etc.)..
Step #2.) Next page -- MWC2018 Races and WMA Information
After you log-in or save a new account, you'll move on to the actual MWC2018 Registration pages.
You will see your name and anyone else attached to your account. You will also see two numerals that will match your BIRTH YEAR. There will be a drop down menu that will automatically show your correct Age/Gender Category based on your personal information. Proceed into the drop down menu page.
-- Your club can be whatever you want. For USA skiers, your association is American XC Skiers or AXCS. You can also just put the association as a short cut (USA Example: type in just "AXCS").
-- If you took part in the MWC2016 (Finland) or MWC2017 (Switzerland) events, you can find your WMA Reference Number and FIS-WMA Points on this chart. The Datasport field prefers round numbers so round all values DOWN.
-- If you didn't go to either Vuokatti or Klosters, you do NOT currently have a WMA # or FIS-Points -- so leave these spaces blank. You will automatically be assigned both numbers once your registration is processed. For USA skiers, future information from AXCS (via email and xcskiworld.com) will describe what your options are if you deeply care about MWC2018 start seeding. Do not worry about it right now.
-- The Datasport interface requires you to pick a technique for all three races offered for your age category. So even if you only intend to do 1 or 2 MWC races -- you MUST select three races anyways! There is no entry process for the relay, that selection is done within your national contingent (for USA skiers, you'll get future info on this).
-- On the listing of the races and race days do not be confused by how the race dates are written. The dates are written in the order of date - month - year (Euro-style...example 22.01.2018 = 22 January 2018). Note also that the races are not listed in the drop down menu chronologically. So look carefully at what you are selecting. Yes, your National Director can help you fix things later in the game if you screw something up -- but only until the 6th of January!!!
-- Everyone ignore the National Director question -- it is set to a default "no" which is exactly what you want it to say.
-- If applicable, put in all the registration info for a 2nd person if you are paying together before you move on to the payment pages.
-- Click both "Conditions" boxes. At the very top of the Registration Page you will see "Haftverzichtserklärung Waiver". Please ideally download that waiver onto a device to save/sign/print and bring to packet pick-up in January. You can also just sign a paper waiver at packet pick-up in January.
-- Click "Register Now" at the bottom. You'll move on to the Registration Summary Page.
Step #3.) Registration Summary Page
On the summary page you'll see your name, the overall event, and EUR 200 total under price (see #3 below where transaction fees will be added to this total). Again, remember that all MWC entries are charged in EURO. This is an international event and EURO is the most common currency of all participating nations. Your credit card company will automatically convert EURO to your currency on the transaction.
Click on the "Pay Now" button.
Step #3.) Payment Pages
-- On the payment page, find your credit card logo in the top left of the payment choices. The screen will then automatically change to a final billing page.
-- When the final billing page pops up, for major credit cards you will note that a "transaction and security cost" is added by Datasport of roughly 9.80 EUR.
-- Fill out credit card info where requested. Click to make the transaction final.
-- Important Note: If you see the final amount be charged in CHF (Swiss Franc) converted from EUR (Euro), your Datasport account was set up to charge you in CHF. To save yourself about $12 US, you need to open a second window within Datasport so your name appears in the red header, upper right corner. In your account page, select EUR. If everything appears in German, you can switch languages by clicking on the globe at the top right corner of your account page. Once done with this step, go back to your Datasport registration window and the price to pay should be a straight EUR 200.00.
-- If you do not have a chip credit card, it is smart to notify your credit card company ahead of time that you are making an overseas on-line transaction of EUR 200.
And Finally... :-) You are now entered officially for the MWC2018. Ya-hoo! Save a copy of your receipt.
Instructions for the "Old School" MWC2018 Registration Process
Step #1.) Download the paper entry from the MWC2018.com registration page.
Step #2.) Print it out, fill it out, sign the waiver. If you didn't ski one of the last two MWC events (2016 or 2017) you do NOT have current WMA-FIS points and you do not have a WMA number. Skip that step, those values will automatically be assigned to you. However, if you did one of those events, look above under on-line instructions how to find your values.
Step #3.) Scan all the pages -- or -- take a good quality SmartPhone picture of all the pages and send via email to your National Director. For USA skiers, your National Director is reached via -- axcs at xcskiworld dot com. Alternatively you can postal mail the entry form to your National Director. For USA skiers, postal mailed forms should be sent to: American XC Skiers PO Box 604 Bend, OR 97709. One received, your National Director will enter all the required info from your registration form into your national entry database on your behalf.
Step #4.) Go to the PayPal button on the MWC2018.com registration page and process entry fee payment. You can also pay for two skiers at once if you wish. NOTE: When you pay, make sure the organizers can match the name on the payment to the name(s) on the entry form(s). There is also a way to pay via bank transfer listed on the paper entry form.
You are now entered officially for the MWC2018. Save a copy of your payment receipt from the PayPal button.
